Hello FRC! Back in 2020, my son was a Senior at Eastside Catholic and I had prototyped and built a pit for their competitions … but COVID meant that I never got any further than having it demonstrated and then packed away.
The EC team has since dissolved, so I’m looking for a good home for this pit. I don’t have complete specs on this at the moment, but with a little bit of time (and perhaps some assistance from the recipient team), I could get all the specs spelled out to allow others to assess, leverage, and advance this design.
Here is the photo of the finished product in its fully assembled state:
I have a ton of other photos to share, but it looks like new users are throttled in media attachements (good rule; i get it). I also have a video of the assembly process that I can trim down to be useful for the receiving team as well.
Hope to find a good home for this. It was a shame to never get to use it in competitions.
Hi, my team (located in Burlingame California) would be interested in this. where are you located for shipping? If email is a better place to discuss, my team’s email is [email protected]
Hey, my Team 1294-Pack Of Parts, would be interested in this. We’re based in Washington, in Sammamish (right next door). This would get a great home at our place, and the cool thing is that ever since the EC team dissolved, we’ve taken in a lot of Eastside Catholic Students onto our team. Especially this year!.
You can contact me at [email protected]
we would be able to come and pick it up from you or meet up at a favorable location for both of us
Very sorry for not providing vital information … like where I am :).
From the replies, it looks like I have a local match, which will be simplest. But one thing we could consider here is getting plans built for this such that you could build one yourself. The tallest order was the plywood shelf construction. The rest was straightforward PVC chops with a miter saw.
If you’d be interested in something like that, let me know the date you would need the plans by in order to construct it in time for competitions.
Well, that was fast! Sounds like we have a winner. And very cool to hear that you also have an EC connection. I’m over in Bridle Trails in Bellevue. I will connect with you over email now!
If you’re offering, I think my team could be interested in some plans as well! If you’d be able/willing to still write those up and maybe scan to email them or just ship them? Great looking pit!
Would love to get some plans, or even just a overall CAD model if you have that! We halfway replaced some of our pit, but didn’t completely get it done for this year.
Also, I am intrigued by the use of PVC and the amount of weight you all feel it can support. This has the potential to be a really accessible super pit. In addition, I wonder what climate you are in (CA or MN). I seem to remember from my skateboarding days that PVC gets quite brittle when cold.
