I noticed a question in the FIRST forum about bubble machines used as a non-functional decoration. I was surprised that FIRST did not strongly recommend against this.
I request that the team that asked this question really consider the permanent effect bubbles might have on their robot, on other robots, and the effect they would have on the COF of the ramp. On the off-chance that the refs let you go on with a bubble machine, I think you would probably not make friends on the field.
Thanks!
Eric.
But it would be awesome cool. I kept trying to convince one of my friends last year to bring his rail gun for a decoration if we needed extra weight, until he informed me that it was a meter long.
The last time I had an encounter with a Bubble Machine 8 years ago at a public function, I ended up in the hospital over night, had to have surgery to fix my broken knee and spent months doing physical therapy… I also got $74.000 in damages from the lunatic who owned the machine and the people who let him use it.
So I have a dim view of Bubble machines, they are “NOT” cool.
Polished ramps. stages, hundreds of busy people moving tones of Robots and liquid soap. Hmmmmmm a disaster waiting to happen.
