Hello, we are team 884 and we are seeking help. Our problem is that every time we upload a new code we have to reinstall the firmware to the radio. Thanks for the help in advance.
This is an very unlikely problem. Can you verify for us that this is the problem you’re having?
Which programming language are you using?
My guess what’s happening is something that’s happened to us last year and you’ve found an interesting way of fixing it. When we updated one of our laptops to Win10, we found that we could connect to the robot once upon boot, then if we disconnected, we could not connect again. We’ve never fixed this issue (anyone care to help), and we just avoid using that laptop for robot programming. Make sure you’ve disabled all firewalls, disabled all other network adapters and have other application quit.
2502 is also having this problem. We are having to re-install firmware on the router every time. It does not matter what computer either. We only get one connection per computer and then we have to re install. Our temporary solution is using last year’s router.
What are the differences between your computers?
That can become a permanent solution - the OM5P-AN is still legal this year.
We have a couple Windows 10 PCs, as well as School provided Mac Airs, We also have tried it with a Windows 8.1 PC. All have the problem.
And that is good for us if we can’t figure it out.
Going through the standard checklist: Do you have ALL firewall disabled? All other network adapters disabled? Everything updated properly? If so, open up a command line and see if you can ping any part of the CS (Rio, Radio, any other devices on that network), and also see what the diagnostics tab on the DS says that it can reach. Try this both before and after you have to flash the firmware.
Also, you say you’re using Macbook Airs. Are you running QDriverStation or a VM?
No Windows 7 PCs, as I feared. Is it possible that the computer is keeping network information in memory in a way that could cause this?
After your first connection and a power cycle of the radio, does the network indicator light on the radio come on, and can computers see the network?
Windows 7 PC was our next attempt but we don’t have access to one unless I bring my Tower PC in which I really really do not want to do (2500 PC in our room is bad). Other computers can still see it once it has connected to the first computer, Each computer gets one connection per firmware cycle.
Make sure you are following R63!
Use the port next to the power connector on the radio.
It do not work, it still looking for any Wi-Fi channel around.
