Controller for driving

Hi CD, our team have a question, is it legal to drive the robot whit a Xbox One Wireless controller?

Thanks

No. According to rule R92:

Other than the system provided by the FIELD, no other form of wireless communications shall be used to communicate to, from, or within the OPERATOR CONSOLE.

Rules H1 and R92 would prohibit this

H1.You can’t bring/use anything you want. The only equipment that may be brought to the ARENA and used by DRIVE TEAMS during a MATCH is listed below. Regardless if equipment fits criteria below, it may not be employed in a way that breaks any other rules, introduces a safety hazard, blocks visibility for FIELD STAFF or audience members, or jams or interferes with the remote sensing capabilities of another team or the FIELD.

v.do not include any form of enabled wireless electronic communication

R92.Other than the system provided by the FIELD, no other form of wireless communications shall be used to communicate to, from, or within the OPERATOR CONSOLE.

Yes it is legal to use a Xbox One controller. But you have to connect it with a micro USB cable. I used an Xbox one controller last year because they are a little bigger and feel better. This year I upgraded to a Xbox One Elite series 2 controller. We will be doing the same thing and using the usb-c cable.

Nope, controllers must be wired. You can always use a micro usb if you want to use a Xbox one controller.

Just ignoring the rules you would probably want to use a wired connection anyways. A wired connection will be more reliable, have less interference and not have to be kept charged.

Xbox 360 is what we use. It has a cable, no wireless, afaik.
