okay so you create a “row” near your driver station right… now you park your robot in the loading dock… and extand a giant thin arm that covers the entire width of the field… the robots cannot touch you with out the 30 pt penalty and cannot decap your row ! muwahahahahahaha33
De-capping is illegal. If you mean “stealing” (placing their tet on top of yours) yes, I suppose you could prevent that. Problem is, I can’t imagine you being able to make an arm that long…
Not happening.
Read <G12>…that isn’t allowed.
<G12> The purpose of the LOADING ZONE is to allow ROBOTS to quickly and safely receive TETRAS without interference while HUMAN PLAYERS and/or field attendants are in close proximity, and then return to play. The LOADING ZONE is not intended to serve as a “perpetual safety zone” to prevent interaction with opponent ROBOTS for the entire match. Tethers, tape measures, long extension arms, and other devices intended to contact the LOADING ZONE to maintain the “non-interference constraint” defined in <G15> while the ROBOT drives around the remainder of the field are against the spirit of the rule and will not be permitted. Such devices must be removed before the ROBOT will be permitted to play in the match.
I think it’s an interesting concept, though I suggest you post in the strategy section of the forum next time.
Keep in mind that this arm will have to be stable enough not to break on contact, and also you need to have a very firm robot so as not to be tipped. The problem is this would also slightly keep you from getting some stuff done on the field.
okay its illegal… i c… it was too easy a strategy anyways
My team was just brainstorming strategies, and we joked about one idea:
The idea was camoflage. We all laughed and took it as a joke, but it could work when you think about it. The concept was that your robot is built to look almost exactly like the trailer. It could be an act of confusion. If the other teams throw moon rocks and supercells into the robot, then they won’t get any points. what you need to do though to really confuse the other teams is have multiple robot/trailers. If there’s just one robot/trailer, then you would be able to tell that the fake trailer is not the trailer.
Think about this… it could turn out to be a win (mabye, my team is still in the designing process).
Ooooh… wait a sec, this thread is years before this game came up (lunacy).
Someone on our team had said the same thing! haha
