Coolant Filter System for CNC mill

Okay, so we are trying to make a coolant filter system that separates all the icky dirt and stuff from the clean coolant so we can have it in a better area and find a decent way to separate that. We are trying to either hand make it for find a decently priced option for a CNC mill. Does anyone have any ideas?

This will get you close for relatively cheap. I would swap the plastic filter housing for something like this because the plastic one will degrade, crack, and leak over time. You will need to get a different filter element and 1" NPT fittings to plumb to it.

Not sure what “decently priced” means, but a FIRST team could probably make something like either of these. I’ve been in shops where both styles are used. Both have pluses and deltas. Ultimately, how often are you using your mill? How much do you need the coolant skimmed? What kind of coolant are you even using? What kind of mill? Your mill manufacturer may even have something that they recommend that is plug and play into your mill, or your coolant manufacturer may have recommendations to make sure your coolant is staying at healthy levels. (Yes, I did say healthy. Some coolants can actually get bacterial infections.)
