COOPERTITION Bonus - How does it work?

In the manual the COOPERTITION BONUS is defined as: At least 3 GAME PIECES scored on
each ALLIANCE’S CO-OP GRID

So, both alliances will earn this bonus only if BOTH Co-op grids have at least 3 GP? Or if one alliance has at least 3 GP in their respective Co-op grid they will earn the bonus alone?

Your first interpretation “both alliances will earn this bonus only if BOTH Co-op grids have at least 3 GP” is correct.

Seemed pretty ambiguous to me as well

Both teams need to have at least 3 pieces in the coopertition zone, otherwise the sustainability threshold is not lowered.
