Could your robot open a door?

But there is a way out; the robot is on the unlocked side of the door. I bet we could open the door with our robot (if it were on) if we needed to get it out.

If your (2020) robot really needed to open a door, do you think you could make it do so with no hardware/software modifications?

(For clarification: the door opens in the direction that it does if it were your own shop. Specify the knob you have on your shop door and the direction it opens in please )

It could get from the shop classroom to the outdoors, but definitely not from the shop into the shop classroom.

IE: It could get through a pushbar door, but couldn’t turn a “classic” round doorknob.

Wait, does the robot have bumpers on? That changes things.

I think we currently have half of our four bumper chunks on, so you can choose.

Our climber could probably grab our door handle and open it, and it could hit the push bar on the exterior doors.

So yes

This would be a lot easier last year, when there were more robots with lifts that could reach that high.

Im confused, why was the OP flagged?

Probably because this is a pointless spammy thread that belongs in Chit Chat instead of General. I don’t mind it, but it doesn’t surprise me.

A regular door, no. The “door” to our shop, yes. It’s a sliding chain door, so as long as it’s unlocked it could open it.

I was curious about what topic to put this under; I checked what the quotes thread was and put it as that. I’ll change it to chit chat. Thanks.

It would not be able to get out of our shop considering it would be padlocked regardless of the door knob :joy:

I came here ready to see a robot open a door. Not amused.

Lol alright, challenge accepted. If our robot is free at all this coming weekend I’m going to try to open our door.

Odd random challenges = frc

Well the doors in our workshop are made of wood, and we have a pretty robust drivetrain this year…

Our current robot could possibly do so with the climber, but it would be difficult (definitely not possible if the door were locked). However, last year, Sally removed a stuck hatch cover from inside another robot on our alliance. It was during a competition, and was quite amazing. So, probably as that required similar dexterity.
