county support

all of CD-

the two teams in Lake County Florida(1557 and 2797) recently got a monetary pledge from our county commison

so i was wondering how any other teams get some kind of support from their local government?

I was just notified today of a 1k donation to our team that came through our county board of supervisors. To supervisors came to our local regional in 2007, we presented to a board of supervisors meeting later that year and now they have arranged a donation through the local community foundation. So here’s the message… keep inviting and involving elected officials and local government, it’s helps spread the message and values of FIRST and can help with sponsorships and such later.

We also receive support though our school district (5k) and county office of education (1k-3k depending on need-usually in the form of materials).

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development offers grants to each Indiana FRC team. Last year, teams qualifying for the Championship received an extra bonus to help pay for their participation. We count the DWD as one of our official sponsors.

I believe the County Board of Supervisors (San Luis Obispo County) gave us $1000.

To all teams out there, service clubs (Rotary, Kiwanis, Elks, Knights of Columbus, etc.) and organizations such as this are GREAT places to ask for sponsorship. Most have required a short grant proposal or simply just presenting at their meetings, and often give $100+. I believe the real fund raising is in the small amounts that add up.

Our city actually deemed kickoff week “Robotics Week”. The mayor usually stops by at kick-off.
