COVID Screening

Sorry if there are already other topics out there. In my quick search I did not find anything.

As we are moving into bringing students back into our shop for the fall we are looking to try and automate as much of the precautionary needs as possible. In that regard, is you’re team is going any screenings of people before they enter your facility, what do you use for this? Before we build our own Google Form, we wanted to reach out to see if any awesome FIRST people have already made an app or similar system?

Cheers,
FRC Team 4004

Google forms was our go to. It’s was fast and simple to set up.

I made a thing near the beginning of the pandemic. I redid it much better (using MS Flow instead of Zapier and avoiding lots of the in between steps) but didn’t document it as well. If there’s interest in a more streamlined version of the outlined system, let me know and I’ll see what I can do in the way of documentation!

Ford has used the same system through the pandemic. A simple temperature check, along with an online attestation. The online form emails a colored square (changes based on day) to your email, and you hold up your phone to show the color to the person taking your temp to prove you did the survey.

Many other corporations use this as a best practice now.

Google Forms worked great. We were in-person or hybrid most of last year. The kids scan a QR code when they enter the lab. We scan temp (which they enter into the form) with touch less thermometer and they answer some standard yes/no COVID screening questions. I’m not sure temp is a sufficient screening tool based on current COVID situation, but perhaps the best we can do.

Forms + QR code was easy, and used for our youngest in our workspace (3rd grade) through our adult mentors. Forms is nice because you can tie to a school gmail for record keeping. There is a time stamp for contact tracing. Fortunately we never had a COVID case to contact trace in our FLL, FTC, and FRC programs last year. We’re still going to collect the same info in case we need it this year.

Our build space had a system of QR code sign in to track hours. One of the programmers programmed in that once you’ve scanned your QR code, you had to check off on the COVID Screening. It was quick and easy, and integrated nicely into our pre-covid system of keeping track of whos been in/whos currently in.
