Crate and Batteries

:yikes:
The info and specs provided in the manual a a little vague about the design of the crate. If only two 4x4’s are used 28 inches apart, the box will be very weak. Any help? Also, how many batteries must we ship in the crate? Can we bring some to our regional on the day of the event? Thanks:)

i would assume you would have to put all batteries in there, but definatey the kop batteries in their original packing…
probably better for Q/A

Phil,
It would seem that if you ship a battery with the robot, you must follow the directions in Section 6. If you choose to bring your batteries to a competition, be advised that there are airline rules for carrying batteries that may prevent you from bringing them on board. If you travel by ground, you can bring them with you.
The crate design is up to the team but must use the minimum 4x4s 28" apart for forklift manipulation. If the venue can’t get your robot off the truck then you don’t play. Most shipping containers are made of 1/2" plywood with 1x2 or 1x3 frame. The four sides are screwed together with the robot inside but securely attached to the floor and/or sides. You must have a battery box as shown in section 6 if you want your robot to make it to regionals and Nationals.

Q: if you live local to your competition, do you still have to ship the batteries with the robot

A: No. You can bring them.
