Creating an Event Page Help

I am currently working on designing the website for our regional and was wondering what ideas people had for the website.

Obviously a landing page with regional information, directions, things in the area. A tab for media, but what are some other things that could be added that teams wish regional sites had?

Here is the New York Tech Valley FIRST page, as an example:

Most regional & district websites are getting crammed into a State FIRST website. I hope more event pages opt for a standalone event page (with domain or subdomain).

At one point , I created a template in Drupal that could be used for event pages. However, that site got scraped for a State website (http://firstintexas.org/ ) .

Minnesota hosts event webpages for 5 events on our site:

Since we run two double regionals (North Star/10000 Lakes and Lake Superior/Northern Lights), those regionals are combined, while Great Northern (which is a brand new event this year) is really just getting its pages filled out.

I am going to work this weekend on the layout design of the site. We are going to revamp hopefully the whole first page for suny poly.
Having it be better set up for all programs and an events tab with a menu for each programs events.

I am actually making a mock up in photoshop to better help get the picture in my head. As well as use it as a final project for my class where I needed to design a layout.

I can then ask the communities advice of the photo layout before actually building the website and wasting time then.
