We were running the robot, mechanum drive so the robot was shaking quite a bit. The robot stopped communicating, the orange signal lght went solid orange and then nothing. The cRIO appears to be dead. THe power LED on the cRIO is not lighting even though the power cable is delivering 24V. (LED on the power block is lit and we double checked with a multimeter). Pushed the mini dip switches and then pushed them back. Pulled the analog module and the digital module. Any ideas? Anything we might be missing? Please say yes. I don’t want to order another one of these. This is going to blow a HUGE hole in our budget. Also, anyone know if there is any kind of warranty? This unit is 25 months old. Came in the 2008 KOP.
Check out this post.
Just wanted to update this thread. Called NI and they confirmed the cRIO needs to be replaced. These are still under warranty and they will ship a new one before they receive the old one with a credit card (they won’t charge it if they get the broken one back). Now the bad news, NI doesn’t have any right now. They didn’t have a time frame, only that someone woiuld be in touch to let us know. NI support for FIRST is only 1:00p till 7:00p. central time for those interested.
If you haven’t heard back from our Application Engineers within a day, please let me know. I have offered up an R&D loaner. I don’t want you stuck without NI hardware.
Three cheers for National Instruments. The support I have seen them provide for FIRST teams is incredible.
