cRio resetting itself, too low voltage?

We are having a problem. As we are testing all of the systems in our robot, the cRio will randomly stop, and then come back on twenty seconds or so later like when we reset it.

Watching the voltage indicator on the DS it appears as if this happens around 11.5V … is that right? Is there a setting wrong somewhere? Any ideas?

This behaviour usually happens when you plug the cRIO into something other than its dedicated 24V supply. Can you post a picture of your wiring?

Are you loading the battery, e.g. running the motors and slamming them into reverse? Depending on your battery you could see a droop which would cause the 24V to drop and reset the controller.

It was plugged into 24V. It may have been low/bad battery. Just wanted to be sure this was not a usually situation.

Not usual at all - in fact I would classify it as “something is wrong”, most likely with the power supply / battery.

There are some bad batteries floating around from 2008. They will give good open circuit voltage and then die horribly under a load.

To my knowledge we haven’t had a broken 24V supply yet, but this doesn’t mean that it couldn’t happen. If it isn’t the battery, we may need to look deeper.

We were using the 2008 battery, trying to save competition batteries.

So most likley that is what it was.

Thanks for the assurance.
