CT/MA/RI NEMO Workshop

All NEMOs (adult/college mentors who deal with the non-engineering aspects of a FIRST team such as travel, team organization, food, teambuilding, fundraising, etc.) in the Connecticut, Massachusetts or Rhode Island areas are invited to attend a NEMO workshop on Saturday, November 6, at 9:00 a.m. at the RAGE Practice Facility, East Hartford, CT.

This is a chance for mentors to get together to exchange information, make contacts with other teams, and hopefully take home some suggestions for your team!

If you are interested in joining NEMO or attending the workshop on November 6, please PM me with your name, team name and number, role on team, professional role, and what area you would like to have discussed at the workshop! I look forward to meeting you on November 6!

Wow!

This is really cool. I’m sure you guys will have a great turnout.

This is such a great idea! I plan to be attend. I hope to see you there.

Will more info be coming soon (ie. directions, times, etc) ? Some of the URI Robotics Club will most likely be there?

I thought we would begin at 9:00 a.m. and leave the ending time open - much will depend on the turnout and how late we want to stay!

For directions, please PM me and I will attempt to get you here. For those who wish to look it up on Mapquest or such, the RAGE facility is located at 721 Main Street, East Hartford, CT.

It’s not too late to sign up for the NEMO Workshop in East Hartford, CT on November 6!

If you haven’t already done so, please PM me with your name, team name and number, and what non-engineering aspect of the team interests you. I will be putting together an agenda based on the topics you choose to discuss.

If you have examples of items that might help other teams (such as the emergency card RAGE uses when traveling, or the luggage pom poms that Aztechs makes), bring them along.

One of the things I like best about competitions is meeting other FIRSTers and exchanging ideas. If you’ve been thinking about attending, or know someone who hasn’t yet RSVPd, please let me know now!

Any idea how many people will be attending so far and do you have any more topics you can reveal.

Wow, this is awesome! I’m so happy to see inter-team meetings happening like this, I wish I could attend… but I hope the meeting goes really well!
(me who realizes that I haven’t touched a robot in three years  )

My intent in holding the workshop was to discuss whatever topics are of most importance to the teams that were present. However, I haven’t had much feedback.

So far the interest has been high, but the actual registrations have been low. I will review the e-mails I have received and make a decision about cancelling the workshop tomorrow evening.

If you or any mentors on your team have been thinking about attending but haven’t e-mailed me yet, please do so by tomorrow afternoon.

Come on all you Non-Engineering Adult Mentors!!!
I’m cleaning wednesday night so you can have a sqeaky clean place to meet!!!

well, maybe not squeaky clean, but much cleaner that it is…cuz things are always dirty when you have a mostly male team with lots of teenagers…

Um, I am NOT responsible for the content of this posting, nor the consequences it may bring! But I appreciate that the team is going to attempt to clean the facility for NEMO anyway!

The NEMO Workshop scheduled for Saturday WILL be held beginning at 9:00 a.m. I am e-mailing participants with the agenda and directions; if you do not receive an e-mail from me please let me know as I don’t have e-mail addresses for everyone who is coming.

I am looking forward to bringing five teams’ mentors together on Saturday for an exciting exchange of ideas!

Great… See you all then

John

Please email all directions and info to [email protected]. Thanks

Last fall’s NEMO workshop, while light in attendance, generated a great exchange of ideas.

If anyone from the CT/RI/MA or NY area is interested in getting together for another NEMO workshop this spring/early summer, please PM or e-mail me and let me know what month is best for you (May, June, July); would you prefer to meet on a weeknight or weekend; and your top three concerns. Items that have been mentioned are planning summer fundraisers; planning fall teambuilding weekends; recruiting and retaining mentors/sponsors/students.

If there’s enough interest we will meet in East Hartford, CT once again. (There will also be a NEMO meeting at BattleCry@WPI on Friday, June 17, 2005 at 2100 hrs. for any interested mentors.)
