[CTRE] 2024 Kickoff Software! …almost

It’s that time of year again!

We at CTRE can’t wait for Kickoff and are just as eager as y’all for the initial season release of software. Thanks to a whole lot of testers and an awesome off-season of development (more on that later…) we’re more excited than ever to see how teams use Phoenix to create amazing robots and push the boundaries of software development in FRC.

While we can’t release the kickoff version of Phoenix just yet, we wanted to remind everyone of some critical items going into tomorrow:

DON’T Use Beta Software

As soon as NI and WPILib software for 2024 are released, we know you’ll want to immediately grab your vendor libraries - it’s extremely important that you DON’T use alpha or beta versions of Phoenix for this.

Our alpha and beta versions have not been built against and released for the official season release, so there will be compatibility issues that we can’t help troubleshoot or support. Please bear with us and wait for the official kickoff release of Phoenix.

When will Kickoff Phoenix be available?

Phoenix is getting polish and documentation improvements as we speak, and as soon as possible we’ll be kicking off our release builds. Like all vendor and community libraries we’ll need the core releases of NI and WPILib software in order to do this - we’ll then go through our final validation and testing before officially publishing Phoenix for the 2024 season!

Based on our past release timing and the test processes required, we expect to have 2024 Phoenix published within 1-2 business days of the NI and WPILib software release.

We’ll make another post at that time announcing the release, along with a link to that announcement below:

[Keep an eye out - Phoenix release link will go here!]

Thank you everyone for your patience - Good Luck this season and Happy Kickoff!
