Hi, me amd my team are considering to purchase the SDS swerve moudle. We saw that most teams that switched to swerve drive, also switched to the REV elctronics components as the REV PDH offers 10, 40 amp terminals.
In order to cut costs we thought about keeping the CTR PDP with only 8, 40 amp terminals and connect the steering motor to a 20-30 amp terminal. We would like to hear from expirianced teams what is the currnet draw for the steering motor (falcon 500) and if it sounds like a good idea to keep using the PDP and all other CTR elctronics
Yes, the steering motors don’t need much power so putting them in a 20-30 amp terminal won’t negatively impact them much. I’ve seen lots of team limit the steering motors down to 20 amps in software, so they should run fine in this configuration.

Be aware that we can use the Rev 40a breakers in all the CTR PDP slots to make them all 40a circuits if need be.

Our team is not terribly experienced with swerve, but this year we used swerve x and had 30 amps for our turning motors, it worked fine for us
