D-Link Ethernet Splitter Issues

How do you plug in a d-link ethernet splitter to the vrm? I thought that it was 5V 2 amps but that fried our d-link.

Are you referring to a network switch? If so, what voltage/current it needs will depend on the specs of your specific model of switch. Sharing that with us will be the only way to get a direct answer.

Or you can buy a different network switch. There are models which use USB power, which is what have used for the last 2 years. Happy to pass on our model info if you want.

The D-Link is 5V 1A

If you got the polarity backwards (center positivite or negative?) that can let the smoke out.

Every year since Stronghold we install a D-Link GO-SW-5E Ethernet switch on the robot, which is one of the smallest ones you’ll find. It is powered from the 5V 0.5A VRM terminal. (You can use the 2A output, but I believe this switch draws so little power that you can safely use the 0.5A output).

Be very sure you get the polarity right, but otherwise it has always worked fine for us. Always double, triple-check the voltage and polarity before plugging in the device!
