The wait is finally over! After extensive beta testing, thanks to the efforts of several teams, version 1.0 of the Dashboard Decoder is now available for download! The core of the Decoder is an OCX control written in Visual Basic 6.0 Professional Edition. This OCX can be easily added into your own custom Dashboard program, which can be written in any environment that supports OCX controls. Included in the distribution is a sample program(EXE only - no source code) and documentation for how to use the OCX in your own programs. Support for the program is available by e-mailing me at [email protected].

Enjoy the Decoder, and I’ll see you at the Competition!

Nate Smith

PS - The directory that the program can be downloaded from, as well as the About box in the sample program, still state that this is a beta version. However, this is the official release version 1.0 of the Dashboard Decoder.

In an effort to get a feel for how many teams are downloading and using my Dashboard Decoder software, I have put a short form to fill out on the main download page(link below.) This is just for me to know who is using my code in their own applications. Also, the list is displayed on that page, so the e-mail addresses can be used to set up a ‘support group’ as you find problems with the decoder as well as share ideas for techniques to optimize the feedback given to the drivers. There is also a mailing list available to share ideas specific to the decoder. Note that this is a separate list than the one set up for the GPL dashboard project.
