To everybody looking forward to using the Dashboard port this year,

Innovation FIRST has said that they will release the data format for the information coming off of the Dashboard port on the Operator Interface. Once this is released, I am going to write a VB6 code module to handle decoding the information and getting it into an easier-to-use format. If you’re interested in getting a copy of this, e-mail me at [email protected] and I will let you know when its done.

Just got an e-mail back from Innovation FIRST saying that they hope to have the dashboard protocol specs out by the end of the week…I’m hoping it’s only going to take me about a week after that to get the library ready to send out…I’ll keep in touch…

I’m glad you inquired…and I am interested in your library. Please keep me in mind when you get it written.

Thanks,

I will be writing my own dashboard program and releasing it under the GPL (Open Source for more info go to the link URL). It will have three modules each of which are free to use. If you want more information let me know at [email protected]

I don’t believe that that is an accurate quote.

If someone were to develop an easy way to factor ANY prime number yet alone large ones I would be call that a mathematical breakthrough indeed!

How sure are you of that quote?

There is an listserver for it at:

I have a flowchart that begins to outline the program, email me at [email protected] if you want it.

It is a modular system for adding display options like speedomiters and red, yellow, green displays. Any help writing modules would be great. I will be posting it at SharingFIRST as soon as our team registers. Will notify when this is posable.

Looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of custom dashboard applications. I might take my stab at one as well just for the heck of it. I’ll be interested to see them all and all the custom interfaces teams come up with. How long will it be before we can use the computer to send data back to the robot…I’m looking forward to controling the robot with a force feedback joystick. I hope this entrance of the PCs into the driver’s station is only the begining…hmm…now where did I put my VR helmet???

I can vouch for this…I’ve gotten at least a dozen e-mails asking for my decoding module so far…

FYI: This message will be cross-posted to the mailing list established by Nate Custer

I just downloaded the packet structure for the dashboard port, and am starting work on the actual code. Everyone who e-mailed me will be notified via e-mail when it is completed. I will also post a message to this forum under a new thread, and post a message to the mailing list when it is completed.
