Dean K. will be on 60 minutes tonight!
I love how in one day there were two incidents of two people posted the same information. please search before you read, (four down on the portal is included in searching). http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=78371
Many people (myself included) do not keep “Dean’s Inventions” on their portal. It’s not a very well trafficked forum. I debated whether I should post here in general or not and I don’t think it’s a terrible thing to have it here as well.
Should be interesting!
I saw the promo, and they ran the same story a few months ago. He’s developing prosthetic arms/hands for people who have lost theirs, I think more especially for former military members.
I’ve seen tons of stuff on the Luke Arm, did a project on it for one of my classes, gotta love it, it’s these sort of inventions that make me tell everyone that Dean is the person my kids will be reading about in the history books
I walked down in the middle of 60 minutes. I thought for sure I’d missed his part, but it turned out otherwise. Excellent program, and a great story of the sort of amazing achievements that can be born from engineering.
Now if we could get a Leg like the luke arm. We could put them together and make a robot! (Skynet is coming)
There actually was a prosthetic leg called the Power Knee featured in the segment, that has a similar class of capability as the Luke Arm.
More info about the Power Knee can be found here:

There are other similar devices as well such as the C-leg
