Is there anyway to delete layers in a DWG. ive tried the purge command, put everything on the zero layer, it all didnt help. When everything is on the zero layer and i try to delete layers, autocad says that the layer currently has items on that layer. I want to delete the layer no matter what, if there are objects on it, i dont care. i have a DWG that has about 9 layers and it shows about 150 in the layers box. I imported a basemap but its on one layer called “arcs”. so its that layer + 8 more i created… it also wont let me WBLOCK the DWG too…
Nevermind, i had to purge the blocks too
With Autocad, if you install express tools (which comes with the later versions, but can be found on their website) there’s a layers menu that has a delete layer script, that will completely eliminate those pesky layers and anything on them. It seems like an obvious need but for some reason they’ve never incorporated that option, hence needing to delete then purge all items. It gets more complicated if you have items frozen in viewports. Then you can’t purge even if no items exist using the particular layer.
