I enjoy this site a lot but I think a chat site would make it perfect, The writen forum is great but
instant comunication I find very refreshing, does any one agree that a Delphi chat site would open
better discussion’s.

Only problem is that not everyone can be here at the same time, also not every will be in the mood of discussion all the time neither… this forum work because it give time for people to think, and post at their best condition.

Instant chatting might not work when people come in and find out it’s empty, and lose patience about it.

Well, there is a FIRST chat site through the Rambots. I know a good number of people go there but unfortunately I haven’t seen anyone there for quite awhile. Maybe we should also start hanging out more often?

I think we should just keep the forums here and the chatting through the Rambots. Chief Delphi already seriously dominates most things, and they take on alot as well. Anton and the Rambots were the chat innovators, and they do it well. What does everyone else think?

The Rambots have a chat page that can be found at the link below, and as for the time issues Ken, I understand considering you are on the west coast over there =) As the season begins to heat up a little and we get ourselves organized, there will be some scheduled chats for those who can make it, and the room is always open to those who just want to drop by anytime. I think the balance between the Chief Delphi Forums and the Rambots Chat is a perfect blend to bring us all together…but then, I’m also a bit biased =)

We tried a chat room two years ago as an experiment.

What we found that at that time there was little usage of this room and several problems with conversations.

The room was used mainly by students and the conversations they were having were not good for the FIRST program. We decided that at that time there was more effort required to police and control the room then we were willing to do.

We still have the room its just not active.

I am pleased that the Rambots have taken over the charge and are having a positive influence in the FIRST community of teams. They are doing a super job.

Thanks Rambots!

Thanks for the recognition Mike, I know that we could have not been the success we are without the Chief Delphi Forums. You are truly pioneers in the FIRST community, and I kick myself for not coming on board the forums sooner.

Thank you, and here’s to more years of working together towards our common goal =)
