Better known as team Hot Wings Express! For 1023 it was the first time we have ever won a competition, getting that banner was amazing. When we were selected it took it a good 15 minutes before it actually sunk in that we were in an alliance with HOT and Wings of Fire, and when we won we just stood there staring at the scoreboard for a couple of minutes. Our team was going crazy, it was a really good day. Thank you HOT and Wings of Fire for picking us as the third member of your alliance.

This event was EXTREMELY competitive. I was incredibly impressed with the competition, and there were some extremely close matches. I feel like there were more than 7 red cards, though…“Holy Red Card, Batman!” indeed!

Congratulations 67, 51, and 1023, and also to finalists 27, 201, and 1! Also, congratulations to Chairman’s recipient 27! Oh, and Rookie All-Star/Highest Rookie Seed winner 3175 (I’m proud of you, Knight Vision!)!

I had an ongoing “teams that are awesome” list going in my pit so that I would remember to thank all of them for the help (in advice, physical objects, spirit, and any other kind of help) that we received over the course of the event, but I didn’t add anyone for today (I forgot :/) So from Thursday and Friday, I’ve got 201, 247, 3096, 3175, 1025, 313, 67 and 2851. Thank you all so much :

Is there a list of the Woodie Flowers and Dean’s List nominees floating around anywhere?

“Hey Detroittttttt…”

Hey What? :stuck_out_tongue:

And your welcome  The FEDS are always here for you!

This event was a blast. Our team had a lot of fun and were glad 123 and 1528 picked us for a partner. We put up a good fight in the elimination rounds, but facing 67, 51, and 1023 in the semis was hard. It was a lot of fun to watch that finals. Hoping that finish was enough to get us to States. Also thanks team 548 for the Most Kickin’ Robot award.

Just glad we figured out all of our issues and even got an autonomous going. It was fun to blast the balls across the entire field a couple of times.

After this event cant wait to see States!

Would you mind sharing what that problems were, so we can all learn from them? I know you were saying you had a lot of communication problems in the previous district, so I would love to hear what was the problem and the solution.

I was watching some of the webcast and thought there was a bot that had an active mechanism. I’m sorry i don’t know the number but the top was yellow i think and it looked like a diving board that just keep bouncing up and down. I was hoping someone could clarify how that was legal. Could it be that the bounce was only 3 inches? Just saw a picture of bot -2834-in detroit news.

It was just a board on a spring that was used to deflect balls coming down from the tower. It seemed to be on the spring because it would allow them to go under the tower if need be.

And I’m pretty sure it was only 3 inches after looking at it closely at the competitions.

I wasn’t directly involved with both problems, but this is what I understand/think.

  1. We would lose comm from the autonomous to tele switch. We finally just tried a clean code that we knew worked and it seemed to clear it up. I believe there was just some underlying thing in out LabView code that was off and causing errors.

  2. Randomly lose comm during a match. We did not hook the receiver to a regulated 12 volt source. Once and a while we might drop below 12 volts, then we would instantly lose comm and not be able to get it back.

I believe it was mostly problem 1 we had at Traverse City. Then the few times we would drive I think problem 2 would sometimes take effect and stop us during the match. Sorry, was on a time constraint and couldnt type it in the last post.

Bit of a thread resurrection… but this was my first district ever and apparently it made quite an impression:

I was driving in Myrtle Beach this weekend and saw a sign that brought back some good memories. I just had to snap a pic!

(I did not, however, stop in for a bite to eat, sorry Adam.)

Everyone knew this sounded like a great name for a restaurant…
