Dewalt 3 speed transmissions for sale

Hello, I have sold my company which has nothing to do with bots but I do have a few hundred DeWalt 3 speed gearboxes #397892-05. They are brand new in factory boxes. I will sell one at a time or will sell them all. I am asking $15 a piece if you are buying one. I will discount for qty’s.
Thanks for your time.

Is this just the gearbox? Does it include the magnesium housing and yellow casing? I don’t think you can make much use of just the gearbox without the housing, unless you want to do a lot more design and machining. The gearbox itself doesn’t have any sort of output shaft, just a “D” shaped hole in the last planetary gear stage.

Here are the pictures that Happyman sent me by email. These are just the gearboxes, so if you were trying to do something with them per the NBD paper, you would need to buy the magnesium housing and yellow casing separately.

Hey - team 619 is interested in several of the gearboxes. Can you email a picture to [email protected]? We would most likely want 6 or 8. Thanks!

Team 619 you have mail.
Thanks

Hi All,

I just wanted to let you know that Team 57 “The Leopards” ordered some of the gearboxes. They were exactly what we needed in new boxes and were shipped on time. I received them today. Wayne did a good job.

I also recieved two transmissions toady. This is a deal here.

I got my order today, exactly as advertised (and thanks richardmcc2 for the photos and description).

Teams expecting to use these will find that they need…

  1. An input pinion
  2. An output shaft
  3. A housing with which to manage the gear shifting system

None are insurmountable, or even difficult (unless you try to make them by hand…), but just be aware that there is some work necessary. The paper “Nothing but DeWalts” (in the CD Media whitepaper section) covers this thoroughly.

Still a bargain at twice the price.

Don

how much in cost of parts is required to take these from box to bot?

What is the OD of the assembly shown?

About $70 for the FP and Globe motors, a bit less for CIMs, if you follow the whitepaper. You save about $15 over buying all the parts including the transmission. It can be done cheaper too, especially if you use the pinions from an extra transmission as the input gear (same size) and make your own output shaft.

The part just above the black speed ring is about 2.0 inches in diameter.
