We’ve recently ran into an issue with the dashboard, so we decided to update NI. But apparently, the “LabVIEW 2018 SP1 Real-Time Module” is incompatible with the activation key we got recently? So that isn’t downloading. How crucial is it to download this?
Also, we’re still on “2018 LabView” and are wondering if the 2019 LabView has been released or not. We haven’t gotten any message or anything.
Don’t apply any NI updates to LabVIEW.
The version we’re using was tested against the latest FRC software, so any updates (for NI’s regular commercial customers) stands the chance of breaking something.
On that same topic, the FRC software was developed at the end of 2018 on the LabVIEW 2018 version, so that’s why we use LabVIEW 2018 for FRC 2019.
This. Make sure you just installed the software that comes in the LabVIEW for FRC suite (as well as the 2019 update suite). No other NI module/toolkit/upgrade should be necessary.
The newest LabVIEW version as of today is 2018 SP1, however, as @Mark_McLeod explained, we use 2018 for FRC (no SP1).
The LabVIEW Real-Time Module is used to connect to the roboRIO from LabVIEW. It gives LabVIEW the capability “to talk” with embedded (real-time) targets as the roboRIO. The LabVIEW for FRC suite will have the 2018 Real-Time module.
Alright. All of these software shenanigans have all been really confusing and I can honestly say that it accounted for like 50% of our productivity time ;( Anyways, I think we have the latest versions working, or at least the roborios are connecting with the new software. Now we are just having problems with having access to the shuffleboards and stuff. We’re currently trying to download wpilib which hopefully updates it all.
