Did you know ...

Did you know that there is an easy way to ignore certain forums?

Some people like to come to the site and like to read every forum, except maybe Chit-Chat, Programming, and Pneumatics, for instance. There is a way to see all new threads in just those forums, without having to put forth too much effort.

What you can do is subscribe to every forum, and then unsubscribe from those 2-3 forums you don’t want to see. Then, when you come to the site, hit the ‘New Posts’ link next to 'Subscribed: ', in the upper right side of the main forum page. This will show you all new posts you haven’t read that reside in every forum you are subscribed to.

But, you are probably thinking that you don’t want to subscribe to every forum manually. That would take forever. I agree, and have a solution. There is some SQL I can run on the server to subscribe you to every forum, and then you can go ahead and unsubscribe from those forums you don’t want quick access to.

Oh, and you won’t be ‘ignoring’ these forums 100%. You can always go back and look at the new posts the long way, or hit the ‘New Posts’ next to ‘All Forums:’ on the main page.

So, if you want to be subscribed to every forum, please send me a PM and I can set it up for you relatively quickly.

Thanks to Joe Ross for reminding me about this, and asking to pass it on to everybody who may not know about this little trick.

P.S. 2003-11-24

So, does 2003-11-24 have anything to do with the 2003-10-11 that you told me?

Yeah, the first one being a closer approximation, the second being way off.
