disk RAID array

*Trying to remove FBI Moneypack virus from a friend’s Dell Dimension E310 with 2 80GB internal SATA drives configured in a RAID array.

Anybody out there familiar with this PC and Intel’s RAID controller?

Not me, but one approach that has worked is to switch off RAID in BIOS (as it boots) and treat each drive as an individual (power off and physically disconnect one drive, one at a time). Alternative, connect a drive as a secondary drive on another PC and treat it from there (easier to treat if it’s not the boot drive)

On this particular machine, there is no “off” setting for the RAID in the CMOS. The only options are “ON” and “auto”.

There is some separate Intel RAID configuration ROM code (separate from the Phoenix BIOS code) that is accessed by pressing CTRL-I while booting. It allows you to remove the disks from the RAID array (which I did, in order to reinstall Windows from the DellRestore partition).

The problem is, I can’t figure out how to rejoin the disks into a RAID array. Everything I’ve tried winds up making the system unbootable.
