District Champs Back-ups

As a team that had their best season ever we wanted to go to NE District Champs very badly. Unfortunatly due to some bad luck we are ranked 61st. That means 7 teams would have to decline for us to go. (I personally dont believe that will ever happen, but would LOVE for it too since we already have hotel reservations, and everything planned out.)

What im curious of is, in the past districts, how many teams down the rankings are usually called on?

In the case of MAR Championships last year, I believe we pulled as far down as the 69th ranked team to fill the event.

This year, I know there were at least 4 or 5 declines after the initial invites, although I haven’t seen numbers for this year yet.

It’s also worth mentioning that with NE champs sending out invites ~4/5 days before the event, there could be a pretty big number of declines due to logistic issues and the inability to send payment fast enough.

69th! How many initially made it in (ex. Top 54 in NE)

I believe it only went down to the 65th actually, but initially the top 50 teams in MAR were invited (it has increased to 55 this year). Interestingly, only 49 teams actually attended.

However, with there being an extra week between the last MAR District and MAR Champs this year, and also less teams that are already qualified for WCMP choosing to decline their invitation to MAR Champs, it seems like invitations are only going as far down as to the 60th ranked team this year.

Does anybody know how far michigan has dropped in the rankings in the past?

I’m not sure, but i’m not anticipating alot dropping this year, with the state funding registration. We got lucky that we were the next team in, so we only needed one team to drop (which did happen)
