We are a team who will competing in districts for the first time this year in Georgia. How does the point system work in districts and also have they revealed how teams will be ranked and receive points in district competitions yet?
That info would be in Section 7 of the Admin Manual. You can look at last year’s Admin Manual for how it generally works. This year may be a bit different b/c it’s WLT vs highest average.
Basically:
- Team earns points at an event based on Qualification Results, Draft Results, Elimination Results, and Awards.
- Points from first 2 district events count.
- Teams w/ highest xx points, where xx depends on district, advance to District Championships.
- Points at the District Championships earn 3x and are added to team’s total season points.
- CA, EI, and RAS award winners and Winning Alliance at district championship advance to St. Louis. After that highest ranking y teams, where y again depends on district, also qualify for St. Louis
I’d look for the 2015 District advancement rules, because they included W/T/L calculations. This despite the fact that a very recent Blog said that they would be similar to last year. For a moment I despaired that we didn’t have W/T/L again.
Good timing. You should look at today’s FRC Blog post for the answer to your question: http://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/frc/blog/Admin-Manual-Section-7-and-the-FIRST-STRONGHOLD-Logo
And yes, I was wrong, they are basing it on the 2015 ugly equation.
