District Map for 2024?

Will the 2024 District map include new states ?

If it’s an entirely new district, there’s usually some noise going around about it by this point in the year.

But that doesn’t mean it can’t happen; the news about South Carolina joining PCH didn’t become official until August of last year.

How did I not know that New Mexico is a part of FIRST in Texas, and that Alaska is a part of PNW?

I’d put it as a “maybe”. I don’t know of any immediately ready to go to Districts, but there are some I (as a complete non-expert on the process) feel are liable to make the switch in the near future.

At the risk of starting several debates and split threads:

  • Wisconsin
    • Has had discussions about the District system, currently led by the former FIN president
  • Missouri
    • Some demand for it for years, events are already being held in high schools
    • Both Missouri and Wisconsin have run unofficial state championships in the past
    • Multi-state issue with FIRST needs to be resolved
  • Idaho
    • Supposedly was offered to join PNW at the start of the district, could be a SC-esque annexation
  • The Other Half Of Pennsylvania
    • Was considered for joining MAR a few years ago
    • Probably the most likely one on this list with WOW now officially not happening

With the creation of the Idaho Regional in 2016, theres been basically 0 chance of Idaho going into PNW. AFAIK both FIRST and whoever runs Idaho are both very against another PA setup as well.

:smiling_face_with_tear:

Don’t worry, that’ll only happen if you mention Minnesota

I thought about throwing Ohio on that list since they aren’t quite back to square one and a District seems to still be a goal of the state organization, but it didn’t sound like it was likely to happen any time soon. Maybe I should have had it in another category or something.

Still recovering from when I first found out that WOW was not happening as of a while ago.

Alaska is an easy one to not know, they have a grand total of 1 team.

CA won’t go districts at least not in 2024.

Quick don’t let them see!

Which is sad. As I am sure northern Idaho teams would much rather go to Yakima (~3hr 30mins from Coeur d’Alene) than Boise (~7hrs) and it could help PNW district bring back the Spokane Event.

EHM? Someone’s not checking the news…

I’m not in British Columbia so I don’t want to speak for any teams there, but it seems to me that it would be nice if BC could join the Pacific Northwest district so they could get more than one play per year. Currently there is only one event per year within 1000km of Vancouver.

Otherwise they will have to wait until there are enough teams to create a second Western Canada event (RIP Canadian Rockies Regional). That might take a while though - there were only 18 teams from BC and 5 from Alberta in 2023 :frowning:

That is an April Fools post, I was duped by it too initially

it seems improbable for an international district to happen given how complicated travel gets (plus, with Bellingham district no longer being a thing there won’t be any events that are close to the border)
