Diversity and Inclusion: LGBTQ+ Seminar

FRC 7431 Wingspan invites you all to attend our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Conference! We will be streaming 4 seminars on how you can become a better ally to marginalized communities, especially in STEM and in FIRST. Each seminar will focus on a specific group: the LGBTQ+ Community, POCs, womxn, and people with disabilities. Our first seminar on the LGBTQ+ community is coming up soon! We’re currently looking for guest speakers who can talk about their experiences and observations as a member of an underrepresented group in STEM. I think this is awesome and I’d like to suggest that all of your seminars specifically address the “How do we recruit more minority students?” question that keeps coming up on these forums.

I suspect the answers will in some part also be answered by the question “How does someone who isn’t in a minority act effectively as an advocate and ally to those who are?”.
