DIY open exhaust

Downshifted a little too hard coming out of a corner. Engine kicked and ripped the cat off the turbo.

I’m bored, figured this would amuse some people

Same thing happened to the truck I drive for work. The cat blew right off onto the street. My boss still hasn’t had it put back in, so there’s just a straight pipe to the muffler right now.

Same thing happened to me, except it rusted right off. Had to buck up $200 for a new muffler. '91 Chevy S10… not even worth $200. Paid $500.

Yeah, it seems to be a pretty common problem apparently.

For right now I’m probably just gonna pry it back in and have my friend tack weld it. Eventually I’ll throw a cat-delete racing downpipe (only $165) on it, when I have time to even try and get those flange nuts off. PB blaster is gonna be my friend.

Fits 1997 - 2001 Audi A4/Vw Passat with K03, K04, or ATP Elminiator Series Turbos 3" racing downpipe deletes restrictive cat immediately after the turbo on the longitudinally mounted 1.8T. There is no welding or cutting necessary. The downpipe has a large 3" opening to take full advantage of the turbo flow and has provisions for the factory oxygen sensors. Typical gain is 200 to 400 rpm sooner spoolup and 40 ft/lb of wheel torque. HP gain is 10-15 on stock and K04 turbo and 30-40 on GT28RS or larger turbo. Our favorite when used with stock exhaust for ultra quite stealth sound. This part is for offroad use only.
