Do we have pass through the trench run when delivering power cells, or can we run through the middle of the playing field?

You can drive anywhere on the field, but I’d read the section on protected zones in the manual.

You can drive through either. The trench run is protected, as a pro. It also introduces design limitations, as a con.
It’s entirely your choice.
As a quick caveat, read the rules about protection to understand where you cannot go. Those that discuss the opponent’s trench run and rendevous point are especially important for understanding where and when you can be places.

You can drive anywhere during the game, just know you cannot drive through the opposing alliance’s rendezvous point during endgame or touch another robot that is hanging, also the trench run is for you to have a “safe zone.” Check @typeusernamehere post above
