Has anyone seen anything in the rules about whether or not we put our selected rope in the bag with the robot?
I don’t remember anything about ROPE being included in a definition of ROBOT. Thus, the rope doesn’t need to go in the bag, nor is it included in the weight of the witholding allowance.
My teams mentor has been MIA for the past 4 weeks and we are unsure where/how to submit our robot to frc(in the bag), would you be able to let us know?
If you’re asking how to physically, just set the bag open on the ground, put the robot inside and then wrap it up with a number tie. Then, you’ll need to fill out the Robot Lockup Form with all the information from an adult.
Also, do not put the form in the bag. You will have a hard time after load in/before inspection if you can’t produce the form.
No later than 11:59 PM Eastern next Tuesday, 2/21, you need to put your robot in the bag, get as much air out as possible, seal it using one of the numbered tags you got in your KOP, and fill out and sign the lockup form. You will need an adult to sign off.
Consider before you seal the bag whether your bagged robot will fit through doors. For example, you may have some problems if the bumpers are on.
Then, when you go to your event, you bring the bagged robot and the form and check in with the inspection team (yellow hats) when you load in. Do not forget the form. Do not open, puncture, or tear the bag until you get the all-clear from the inspectors. Keep in mind that if you have a second event (or champs) you’ll need to rebag at the end of your event.
FYI: Anything can go in the bag. Only the Robot HAS to go in the bag (subject to the withholding allowance). So, you don’t have to put your Bumpers in the bag.
Although a document sleeve taped securely to the bag (and closed?) is a great way to make sure the form stays WITH the bag.
Since FedEx is a sponsor …
The Fedex Label pouches work well too.
Certainly, but if the bumpers are done in time, one might have the thought that leaving them on means that you are certain not to forget them when you pack, and that they would help protect the bag from the robot. And then one might discover a week later that the robot can’t be taken out of the room you bagged it in without taking it off the cart, tilting it sideways, and completing a “couch moving” maneuver through the door. :o (At least we only made that mistake once that season, but I’ve had to intervene to stop it from happening again quite a few times in subsequent years.)
