Do you think is would be possible to incorporate a sound element to the game?

Maybe not at a human hearing level but at an ultrasonic level and only at certain frequencies.something a sound detector on the robot could pick up. my first thought is that it would be impossible due to the noise but I’m no sound expert so I thought I would throw it out here and see what everyone thought.

Some teams have used ultrasonic range finders for positioning/detection in the past. Using them for something like triangulation on the field would be kind of interesting, but probably redundant with things like AprilTags.

I really hope not, despite how it would make sense with the theme

  • The audience will likely be subject to hearing said sound element over and over and over again (i.e. the BB-8/R2-D2 screaming of 2020/2021)
  • It’s already very hard for drivers to hear anything during the match

Yes, but not in the obvious way. I think there could be a “rhythm” element, and it could have some audio component for the audience. But if it existed, i’d guess the robots would pick it up with some other means, like a flashing light, or as part of the data from the FMS.
