Hello! Our team wanted to do some cad in the off-season using Solidworks and we wanted to use the cad models that exist for swerve drive, however, it is only provided with STEP files or .x_t files so I was wondering if anyone had Solidworks models for the SDS swerve drives? (ideally a non-inverted one but either one would be appreciated)
Those are both interchange formats supported by Solidworks.
yeah I know they do work in solidworks however I was hoping someone had a conversion to make it easier to edit features
if you download the parasolid that is about as close to a solidworks model as you will get
If you ABSOLUTELY want a moving SDS module in Solidworks, you could open the STEP file, break the link (shown below) and save each unique part and make an assembly. It’s a lot of extra work, but you COULD do it.
For your own sanity, it’s not worth it…
I believe you don’t even need to save out the parts from the original file - the parts can be stored inside the assembly file for convenience.
If you want to import the model, I recommend using the Parasolid (.x_t
) format in SOLIDWORKS since SOLIDWORKS uses the Parasolid kernel and will have an easier time importing it.
