Does anyone have any recommendations on small metal brakes?

Ive been looking at brakes but at the moment would benefit from having one thats not too big so i can have a nice area for it in our shop while having space for other stuff. Ive looked around a bit and found this one but maybe someone here has a better recommendations

I have the 24 inch version of that Eastwood and it’s pretty good. It will bend up to 1/16” aluminum reliably and probably small 0.09” parts. I use it mostly for polycarbonate. It’s best suited in an FRC shop for small sensor brackets, plastic guides, air tank mounts, or similar parts. Just don’t try to bend steel washers. I put a fat dent in one of my fingers trying to push the limits

Whats the thickest plate you’ve bent with it?

We bought this one in desperation but turns out, we like it. Just have to know it’s limitations. It’s a 2 person job to move it so it sits on a heavy duty bench. More capable than the Eastwood but also more $$$.

We can bend 1/8” aluminum brackets reliably with this hydraulic brake based on a harbor freight press. We got the gooseneck fingers as well so we can bend U shapes.

Btw if you try to bend or cut material too thick, especially with everything bolted down and two people on the handles, this bender will break its own casting.

I’ve watched it happen twice on the same model.
So, just, ease off if you think you’re going a bit too hard with this style machine.

Good to know! Thanks for the heads up.

Also, not surprising. I bet it’s an eye opener when it cuts loose.

+1 on the Swag for a small footprint brake that can easily handle 1/8" aluminum.
