Does anyone have experience with Bild?

With GrabCad going away, Bild looks to be a good replacement.
Has anyone used it, or managed to obtain an education license? Is this a good option?

I really like what I see on the website. I’d love to hear any thoughts from experience or just looking at the website.

I think there’s value to having a new thread, but I would like to point to you to this thread “GrabCAD is Shutting Down their Workbench” if you haven’t see it already.

Also interested in this discussion.

Seems interesting, I just setup a meeting next week for an edu license, I’ll let you know how it goes.

We have got a free edu license. They were very helpful and cooperative. The tool seems to work well for Autodesk Inventor. It is similar to Grabcad, better in most regards, although there is a bit of a learning curve as there are more features.

One main feature that looks to be an upgrade is the check in/check out feature. People who want to edit a Part or Assembly need to check out the file. This makes it read only for everyone else in the project, while the person who has checked it out edits, then checks it in with the new changes. (TL;DR - prevents overwriting changes, at least in Inventor)

Migration of old files is also very easy. Bild tells you to designate a folder that will house your projects. You can select a folder with files already in it, let’s say your Grabcad folder.

They created an edu license for us via our school email address - the @company.com extension, so if you are an independent group, it might be harder.
