Does anyone remember 2008?

I swear to goodness there is a video somewhere of a robot going to complete opposite direction when being the only robot actually competing on the field. I thought it was at Waterloo but I have checked every video available on Youtube and cannot find it. It was so simple yet so chaotic. I cant remember who showed me the video originally but I definitely remember them showing it to me on Youtube a year or two years ago. If someone could assist my research I would be very thankful.

I remember 2008. I used to live in 2008. Then, due to work, my family moved to 2009.

Damn, that’s so sad, moving? Like, from one place to another?? I feel for ya… must have been rough.

You’re thinking of Fast Eddie.

I wonder who Fast Eddie is. I am assuming the robot but idk if maybe they are talking to the driver?

boy is my face red

Famously also considered to be the worst match in FRC history! :open_mouth:

As a second year team attending this event there are a few memories that stick around in my head.

  • 1006 (and 1114) would shake the entire arena when they drove.
  • Pauls’ extremely amazing game play by plays.
  • 1114’s 2x4 reinforced drivetrain
  • Us thinking we where amazing because we could actually play the game.

Despite being an event with very little competitive robots its still one of my favourite events I’ve attended in 17 years of FRC

Man I loved game announcing Waterloo. So many memories and so many amazing stories with some of the best people in FIRST.

We are in the presence of greatness omg

Haha I feel this in my bones now. Graduating in 2008 it was a fun fun year and simpler times. But there are soo many cool new features, technology, programming apps, etc.
