So in this qualifications match at FIM Centerline, my team put up a hatch panel that missed one of the Velcro strips but got stuck on the other. It was not covering any of the hole and obviously would not have stopped a cargo.
My question is, should this have counted?
It happens around 1 minute into the video on the far blue alliance rocket ship.
I think it meets all the criteria from table 5-1:
each HATCH PANEL (excluding Null HATCH PANELS) attached to a ROCKET or CARGO SHIP such that it is fully supported by that ROCKET or CARGO SHIP and via the hook/loop tape (contact by an opponent ROBOT does not count as “support” and does not negate a scored HATCH PANEL).
No more than one HATCH PANEL per HATCH will be counted.
I believe it did count. You have 8 pts for hatches in the total, they just did not put it in during the match. 4 hatches on the rocket
According to the match summary on TBA it did count.
As long as fin on the rocket isn’t partially supporting the hatch panel, I would say it meets the criteria as well.
So, If you put a cargo in and it falls off, then it is not counted. If you later bump it and it falls off. It also doesn’t count. The hatch must still be attached at the end of the match. However, If an opposing robot causes it to fall, there is the possibility of a de-scoring penalty. I have yet to see a de-scoring penalty called however.
The question seems to have already been answered but here’s a thread about the topic from a while back Legal vs Illegal Hatch Placement
Oh my god, I was looking at the Red side of TBA when I thought it didn’t count…
My bad to everyone, I should’ve looked better.
That is a very good point I hadn’t fully appreciated.
This would be worthy of a Q&A, I think… is the wing (last paragraph of section 4.3 calls it that) considered part of the rocket for scoring purposes, or is it something distinct?
Happened at Gull Lake quals 54, they de-scored a game piece and we were also provided w the rocket RP.
