Does using setInverted on a SparkMax affect the interpretation of the limit switches?

We are using the limit switch capabilities of the Spark MAX to detect end of travel for an arm. Having found out that forward is down instead of up I want to use setInverted to fix my directions. Will that have any affect on the use of getForwardLimitSwitch() ?

We destroyed some gears yesterday because we may have had the limit switches physically reversed. I don’t want the programming team to add to the confusion.
