I’m not sure if this is the first time this has happened, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it. Quals Match 55 at the IN Perry Meridian event (video here) saw both alliances get all four rotors, for a total of, you guessed it, eight rotors! Congrats to Red Alliance 1024, 3494, and 4485 and Blue Alliance 71, 135, and 5403, who took the match 372-326.
Also happened in q38 at Perry! The event so far has a 20 percent success rate with the 4th rotor!
Wow! I just started watching the webcasts today so I missed that one, but here’s the link for any interested parties. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAsLRrL8gZA
And also crazy that 135 and 5403 were involved in both of those matches! All that’s left is a double four-rotor where both alliances get the 2-rotor auto. Wouldn’t that be the grand salami?
It happened again!
Q63! This is getting pretty crazy.
I hear they don’t play defense in Indiana
Oh no, there’s plenty of defense happening. It just so happens to mostly consist mostly of full-speed collisions in the neutral zone. Indiana run-and-gun is once again proving to be a successful strategy!
Two teams colliding full speed in the middle of the field when they’re both trying to place gears isn’t really defense.
I mean, it’s an interruption
If it is deliberate, and they are interfering with each others’ scoring, so I’d say it’s defense. My question is: is it effective defense? I get the feeling that it isn’t, but that depends on who’s initiating contact and how badly each robot involved needs the wasted time.
Wow! Thats amazing.:ahh:
Semifanal series 2 has had 2 double four-rotor matches in a row, let’s see if it happens in match 3!!! Go blue!
Semi finals 1-1 and 1-2 in mason Michigan, the Lansing event. Scores were 447-445 and 452-445.
Quarter 2-1 at West Michigan
We play plenty of defense in Indiana… but a legitimate question is: Can an alliance play truly effective defense and score 4 rotors on their own airship? Truly effective defense is time consuming and to get all the gears for 4 rotors is also. It has seemed to be a trade off for most. (Maybe not all)
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe our alliance (3322-1076-1504) is the only one anywhere to average 445 or higher in elims
(psst…if you play effective defense, you don’t need 4 rotors)
Semis 1, Match 2. It was a very interesting match. Both sides achieved 4 rotors, while we 3494 were playing defense. I do not know why 71 died, but 1529 was able to nab gears from our loading zone which helped red. 868 and 1024 were great at running gears for us!
Somebody has some bad sources for info
In qualification matches, the extra RP is more than enough justification to choose a 4 rotor strategy over a 3+D.
