I am having problems downloading programs into the robot. The issue is when i go to dl the program it says something along the lines of com port 1 something.
Also has anyone seen my long lost battery from the ruckus? it says DYLAN on it by the way.

I have no experience with VEX, but “com port 1” would be the serial port easyC would be trying to contact the VEX controller through. Try selecting the other options–like I said, I don’t know anything about VEX so I can’t instruct you how to do this. If present, try the “Auto-select” option.
Good luck, and hopefully someone who knows something about VEX replies here.

well thanks, we solved that problem. the enxt problem is getting it to have a steady orange light so it will dl.
If you are using EasyC, all the Vex Controller needs to do to be able to download code (AFAIK) is just be on. As long as you have the correct COM port selected, when you download code it should just interrupt and stop any programs running on the Controller. To the best of my knowledge, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a solid orange light on my Controller. The only orange light I’ve ever seen is just that one that blinks every now and then on the inside of the Controller case.
I’ve never had any problems downloading code to the Vex Controller that couldn’t be solved by either a fresh battery, the correct COM port, or the just turning it off and then back on again.
well we had talked to some others. and was talked through the port problem. with this steady ornge light ting is unheard of. It goes withsomethign like: hold down the programming button untill a steady orange light appears and it will dl.
I use VEX, and I never do anything except plug in the cable, and click download(and change the COM port).
If your using IFI loader you will often need to do a controller verification if the last controller you used was not a VEX, but I’ve never had any problem with Intelitek.
We had the exact same problem. First, check to make sure you have easy C version 2.8.1
If you do, try different computers and different usb ports. We found that only certain usb ports worked for dling program. It was very strange. I think only high speed usb ports work, but I can’t confirm that.
When you are using a USB/Serial adapter the COM port assigned to the adapter will be different for each USB port.
You can look in the Windows device manager under serial/parallel ports to find the COM port # of that adapter on that USB port.
Hmm, i was trying to dl it from my toshiba laptop, same usb each time. i should try any of the other two usb ports then.
If you go into loader setup, it will show the available com ports.
I like to take the USB to serial adapter and assign it to the same
com port for all my USB ports. You can reassign them in device manager.
If you need to reinstall the driver its listed on http://www.intelitekdownloads.com/FVC2006/
Also try turnning off verify in loader setup.
