Drive Motors

What motors did your team integrate into the drive system? I think the Martians had the Small Cim, a window and a fischer price. What did you do?

We used 4 small CIMs.

2 big CIMs and a custom gearbox

1251 used the big cim and small cim in a combiner 2 speed gearbox. The design was a bit over thought but pretty good for a first time custom two speed it pushed almost everything. I have some pics if you would like to see just pm me. Currently, working on the same motors in the KOP as last year we are designing a three motor 2 speed ball drive. This would use two small cims and one big cim per side. Were working on improvements for next year so all kinds of ideas are being thrown around.

in 2005 we had 4 small CIMs, two 6 volt fisher prices running at a full 12v and two speed shift on the fly transmissions. In 2006, we used 4 small CIMs and very small two speed shift on the fly transmissions.

4 small CIM’s two per KOP gearbox.

Four small CIMs, divvied between two KOP gearboxes. Never a misstep from 'em the whole time.

Same here.

We used 4 small CIMs on the KOP Gearbox last year and 2 small CIMs on the KOP Gearbox this year.

We also used 4 small CIMs on the KOP Gearbox this year

We also used four small CIMs on the KOP Gearboxs

We used 4 small cims in the KOP gearboxes, like the last five people or so. Next year, I hope we can get a couple cool multi-speed transmissions put together… eyes 716

We used 2 small + 2 big cim motors in the AM 2 speed. Worked beautifully, and we’re hoping to make a 2 speed we designed.

4 small cims in dewalt trannys

2 small cims in 2 KOP trannies <- bad idea, too slow, too weak, saved weight though!

For next year, 4 small cims between 2 custom made 2 speed transmissions that we’re currently designing.

4 small CIMs with a custom speed reducer for each, driving custom omniwheels like this and this. A fun summer 2005 project for learning about holonomic drive, but not an effective propulsion scheme for Aim High. :o

Like most other holonomic robots we were very maneuverable, but too easily pushed off-target. Here is a shot of our robot in action against a good opponent.

4 small CIM’s. Two per custom made fully closed off HDPE Gear Boxes. (the box was HDPE, not the gears).

4 small CIMs in KOP gearbox, 5.7 ft/s. Worked quite nicely. Next year, maybe either 4 Sm. CIM in DeWalts, or 4 Sm. CIM in a 33 style four speed. (Although I’d really like to do 4 Sm. CIM + 2 FP in AM planetaries + 33 style four speed --> unrealistic)

4 small CIMs, 2 per in our dual speed gearbox. Same design as 2005 so no new white paper this year.

We had pneumatic dog shifting (shifton the fly) tranmission with completely custom designed and manufactured gearboxes. We used 4 CIM’s and 2 FPs.
