Driver Station Help..

We are having some trouble programing the 09’ Driver Station. We power it on and let it go through it’s boot up. Then it come’s up with…

Team Number : 0000
and etc. (I believe that is the default)

The first step in the Directions is to hold the “down” button for more than 5 seconds, and a “Set Team Number” screen should appear, We have done this many times but have never gotten that “Set Team Number” screen. Another question is what does it have to be connected to, like through Ethernet and etc.

Stumped on Stage one :ahh: Thanks, Eddie 1708.

Have you updated the firmware on the DS? Does it still read OTB at the bottom of the screen? If so, you’re not quite at the point of setting team number yet.

Actually, No we have not updated the Firmware on the DS, Could that be our problem, I don’t remember any -OTB- I’ll have to wait until school on Monday and let you know, Thank’s for the Help :]

Yes, you HAVE to update the DS before you can set the team number. This is clearly stated in the documentation.
(If you are planning to run the benchtop tests, do them before updating the DS firmware.)

We are trying to run some Bench top test’s, So your saying don’t worry about the Team number when we are just doing some bench top’s…?

Correct. I was able to run the benchtop tests without setting the team number. You only need to worry about setting team numbers after updating the firmware.

This is clearly stated in the documentation.

I would have to disagree here. I was very carefully reading all the documentation, and I didn’t find that information until I hit Google in desperation. It would be better if they told us that we needed updated firmware at the beginning of the section where it talks about changing the team number.

Our DS Still reads OTB, So we can run our Benchtop test’s with no firmware updates…?

                        Thanks. Eddie Team 1708 :yikes:

Yes, you’re supposed to run the benchtests before updating either the DS or the cRIO. In fact, if you upgrade either, you have to update both, and then the results aren’t guaranteed to be the same as the expected results with the OTB firmware.

When following the directions step by step, you will hit the point where you are told to update the DS, cRIO and LabView. You will need to update LabView before the cRIO because the new image for the cRIO is included in the update file for LV. Once all three are updated, the bench-top results are quite a bit different than the first round of tests.
Again, as is stated in MANY threads here, follow the directions step by step.
