DONATE YOUR ROBOT!
As many of you know, the Mount Firebirds (team 433) has begun a campaign to collect as many old robots as possible to send to Ghana. We are working with the Aggrey Memorial School in Cape Coast to begin a robotics competition in Africa.
When your team comes to Duel on the Delaware, please consider bringing an old robot or two to donate. Every robot in decent condition will allow a Ghanaian team to get started. If you have some old ‘bots that have been partially cannibalized, we can use them too. Also chassis kits, wheels, small parts, motors, pneumatic kits, batteries with chargers, and all electronics and software would be gratefully received. If you can bring a robot from 2005 or later, together with its driver control panel, or any of the above mentioned parts, you will be helping spread the FIRST idea to a continent of bright eager students anxious for an opportunity to get involved with robotics.
The Firebirds believe strongly that if enough teams will join our effort, we can do something quite extraordinary to help kids a half a world away have the marvelous learning opportunity that we FRC teams have enjoyed. Please join us and show your team’s generosity-bring your used ‘bot to the Duel, and we’ll do the rest. If you can send a quick email to bfoell@msjacad.org listing the items you’ll donate, it would help us to plan the transportation we’ll need. Thank you all for your gracious professionalism!
