Our team would like to attend but just a quick question - this is a FRC competition? All I see is stuff about FTC and FLL but the teams look like FRC teams. And how many spots are left currently?

Yes, this is an FRC off-season… we just also run an FTC playday on the new field.

John noted 6 slots left.

that was posted last month…unless he updated it.

EDIT

er…nevermind.

I had a moment.

Does anyone know if there will be any rule changes? Also, will there be a full field w/FMS&DOGMA or will the ball return be watched for stalling but not counted for time?

Five slots left for the Duel on the Delaware. If your team is still interested, please register now.

We may remove DOGMA penalties. We will let all teams know shortly.

Do the Duel!

ANNOUNCING - Duel on the Delaware Mini-Job Fair
As we all know, many of our neighbors, friends, and family are struggling in the
current economic climate. In our steering team meetings for the Duel on the
Delaware, we discussed ways to assist. One idea we had, which we would
like to try to implement, is to hold a mini-job fair at the Duel. The intent is to
invite a limited number (due to space) of local companies, who are currently
hiring to fill positions, to set up a table at the event for a few hours during midday.
Companies can use this opportunity to brand themselves to the FIRST team
attendees (team members, parents, mentors, etc.) and possibly find some
candidates to fill their needs.

DuPont will have representatives on hand for this event. We are desperately
trying to find other local technology companies who would like a table.
Participation would be free for the company, but they would need to have one
or more representatives on hand between 10am-2pm. If you know of any company,
who currently has technology openings and may want to participate, please send
me their contact information. Currently, we have room for a total of 8-10 companies.

Bring some resumes for employers!

NEMO (Non-Engineering Mentors Organization) Meet and Greet Event
Jenny Beatty will be hosting a NEMO Meet & Greet event during lunch. Exact time
and place will be communicated closer to the event.

Stop by and meet other team mentors and learn together!

Success Won’t Wait Book Drive
Please continue to collect books for donation to Success Won’t Wait! The team
donating the most books by weight will receive an award and bragging rights!

Continue to collect those books! Weighing in will occur 7-9am.

FIRST Tech Challenge “Get Over It” Play Day
The playing field for this year’s exciting FTC game challenge “Get Over It” will be
available for FTC teams. If your FTC team is interested, please contact Joe Perrotto
([email protected]). Participation is free to FTC teams.

There will also be a number of FTC morning workshops, including:

  • RobotC
  • PTC
  • Robot Assembly Assistance

FTC scrimmage is scheduled for the afternoon.

Just wondering - Will the matches be video recorded? will there be one of the scoreboards just like at the frc run events? Webcast? I’m interested in recording our matches

DUEL MUSIC REQUESTS:

If you have any “new” music (stuff released in the last year or so) you think I should make sure to add to the playlist, please send them to [email protected]

We will not be playing music from other sources, so please put in requests now

Brandon_L: I don’t believe a webcast is planned. But I do think you will be able to hook up a VCR/Recorder up to the feed.

Will try to double check at the team meeting tomorrow night.

I’m pretty bummed out I won’t be there to cheer the ID’s on. I know 365 will not fail to provide an excellent competition. Hopefully, I get good news from my mentors about how we did. Good luck to everyone though!

Thanks so much! I might be able to lug a DVR down or something, if that would work. Please do check though!

To those interested…

Since we are using an official FIRST field at the Duel on the Delaware this year (and not the NASA field -which included A/V gear in addition to the field-) the A/V set-up will be a little more of a conglomeration of equipment this year.

As such… we can not guarantee that you will be able to hook up a recorder to the A/V set-up; but feel free to bring one and we will try to accommodate requests as best we can.

PS- Keep sending in song requests to [email protected]

For all those attending the Duel on the Delaware, if you affiliated with a team or not, please consider bringing some books to donate to Success Won’t Wait. It’s a great charity. Donate your books on behalf of your favorite team to crank up their BWR (Book Weight Ranking)!

Also, we will have a few companies on hand to talk about job opportunities. If someone you know is out of work or looking, please let them know.

We will also have a NEMO (Non-Engineering Mentor Organization) Meet & Greet event at noon hosted by Jenny Beatty! Please let your NEMs know and come on out to share stories and learnings.

Check out “GET OVER IT!”, the new FTC game this season. A full baton-stocked playing field will be available for practice and scrimmaging.

The Duel will be a fun competition with terrific teams. Come on and join the fun!

Do the Duel 2010!

Wow. Just got home, had an amazing time. First time our team placed in the top 8 anywhere! Amazing job to MOE and LuNaTeCs.

Also, thank you to our alliance! (who gave us the cookies…? they were delicious haha). hope to play with you guys again. As we speak I’m uploading some match videos to our youtube.

You can watch them here in the Duel on the Delaware playlist.

Oh, and we’d also like to thank 1218 for the MOST AMAZING double climb ever. EVER. (qualification 7, check it out when its up)

P.S. I found the fro’s car :open_mouth:

Great event as always! Awesome job MOE, Lunatecs and the rest of the volunteer crew. Thanks to 007 for picking us and 433 for making up the alliance, sorry we couldn’t make it work out.

And let me be the first to say congratulations to John Larock on winning DMV! I’m surprised you don’t get that every year. Great job and thanks for all you do.

Yes 1218 had a fantastic hanging set up – they hung more than any other team in the event.

As I also discovered, their robot also kicks very hard :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks! We had a great time and were glad we made it. This was our first off-season in the fall, and we hope to do it again next year. The event ran smoothly (if a bit longer than expected!!). Great partnering with you, as always. See you in the spring.
