Yes, the nutstrips are used to hold the vertical plates. They did up really well holding that plate to the frame. The reason we did this was because the Frame perimeter was max size(other wise we would’ve mounted along the outside), the frame was the only part of the robot not designed and made from scratch in the offseason. It was a frame we made for the 2022 Off Season.
We found that the 2x2 1/16" weighed less and was stronger than the 2x1 1/8". It has to do with the geometry of a square versus a rectangle taking forces. As long as the cutout is to spec and you have corner support it will hold up fine.swervex-handbook
The addition on top of the swerve is not something we had on the actual robot, only in the cad. The module from wcp is able to be mounted on the bottom or the top of a frame. When you download the module cad it includes all the mounting plates. We did not get rid of the top mount plate in the cad. We usually do. Here is a picture of the module.
