**Uhhh, waddaya mean this has never been asked?

Do a search, and check out last years’ donut wars.

Just so you know, the good guys won - Krispy Kreme all the way!!!

Y = AX^2 + B… ehhh, whatever **

That’s what happens when someone goes on a 10 month FIRST hiatus (and me of all people to do so).

Now come my rocket scientist friend… come over to the dark side! Oh, and on the way, can you pick me up a chocolate muffin, half a dozen blueberry donuts, and a medium coffee?

Those of you non-bakers may not understand, but hey, there"s always a chance…
The point of a pastry (such as doughnuts) is to provide something with a large amount of sugar and large air pockets with the entire structure remaining stable and edible (sounds like robotics - drill as many holes as possible without making the robot break in half). Krispuy Kreme fulfills this perfectly and even provides them fresh, so they are wonderful. The doughnuts at Dunkin Donuts are much more diverse, but they are much closer to being bagels than doughnuts. They are very thick and dense (good for dipping, but very bad without a drink) which may appeal to some people"s tastes, but Kripsy Kremes are much truer doughnuts (this is really asking for a well-documented scientific study).

and thus…Krispy Kreme is the winner!

I must add though that Dunkin’ Donuts Vanilla Chai is my newest addiction.http://www.atforumz.com/images/icons/icon17.gif

I must vote for the Kremes, because I only care about one doughnut: Custard-filled.

When looking at custard-filled doughnuts, I have never found anything to compare with Krispy Kreme. (Although, I haven’t yet tried the local Kreme competition, Lamar’s)

Wait, the big-$@#$@#$@#, conglomerate corporation that OWNS the donut world–the Microsoft of donuts for crying out loud–are the good guys?

Oh hey, there’s another page. How 'bout that…

Hmm… maybe you wouldn’t be so fat if it didn’t take six donuts to fill you. And why is the opening of a store that looks like the other ten thousand an event, I ask? Do they have more than ten different kinds of donuts there or something?

i’m not really big on donuts at all… but, I think that Dunkin’ DOnuts are better…

krispy kreme makes me sick

ive never had Krispy Kremes

This is true- a KK opened recently in a neighboring town (Milford) from where I work (Fairfield). Traffic was backed up for 2 miles with a line of people that spread well accross the large plaza parking lot, all wishing the grandeur of delectable doughnuts. I heard there was some sort of promotion- where the first customer of the newly opened shop would recieved 1 year of donuts free.

ooooh my vote is krispy kreme…although there doesnt seem to be either of the chains within this college town of mine. I know for a fact the nearest one to here is in bakersfield.

Dunkin’s is oh-so-much better than Krispy Kreme; and I say that being a New England transplant originally from the south, or “Krispy Kreme Country”.

I will use the information about the French translation of Kreme to gross-out my turncoat friends when they start lauding the virtues of a Krispy Kreme way of life.

Choosing Dunkin’s, I at least feel that my once in a while treat isn’t a crazily terrible self indulgence. Krispy’s in two words, are just too SICKENLY SWEET. If I wanted to be sent into a diabetic coma I would’ve opted for the funner and slower-acting method of eating a little too much sugar or carb over a long period of time.

But then all donut peddlers are devils in my view, Dunkin’s is just the lesser of the two… or are they? I recently heard that the company owns a lab that studies food addiction. Now, why ever would that be? Can anyone confirm this as fact, or, more hopefully, debunk as rumor?

My advice: Skip the morning coffee & donut run and eat a beignet instead.

I’m from New England (the home of Dunkin’ Donuts) and I’m going to school in Indiana.

I’m addicted to Krispy Kremes. I have a box sitting on my desk right now, actually…

Maybe the Dunkin Donuts up north are better than the ones down here. Even though I am not a big fan of sweets, a hot fresh Krispy Kreme is far better than heavy, cakey, dry Dunkin Donut any day.

DD… It’s all about the coffee

None of the above. Ace Donut in Irvine, CA, is about eleventy-zillion times better than either chain in the poll.

Depends on what you mean by “better”, but aside from their coffee and white-marble-frosted donuts, DD has nothing on KK…except that there’s a DD on the way to work and not a KK. Ah, the suffering!:ahh:

It’s not even close. Krispy Kreme’s are infinitely better. So much so, I don’t even care about the necro rez of a 2003 thread, because it shows how much better they are!

In FIRST, there is often no right or wrong answer to the questions we face. But this is not one of those cases - Krispy Kreme is the only right answer.

KK, then a Starbucks Drive thru for coffee!

The best of each realm…

Between these two, Dunkin Donuts.

More flavors, better coffee, overall better. (I’m personally biased towards their maple frosted and double chocolate donuts). I’ve never been much of a fan of glazed donuts.

But of all donut places, Neil’s Donuts definitely tops the list.
